Our Story
Locally owned City Beverage begins operations in 1995 as OKC’s exclusive Miller Distributor.
Capital Distributing forms with the merger of City Beverage (Miller) and Coors Distributing Co. at 317 NE 31st Street Oklahoma City, OK. With Roughly 40 Employees, the newly formed company begins its growth in the OKC metro.
The company expanded its distribution portfolio with the addition of 6 Point Beverages, an affiliate Class B wholesaler, and Oklahoma Beer Imports, adding more than 200 brands of full-strength beer and about 900 SKUs to its portfolio.
Together, with its affiliates, Capital employed 170 and did more than $80 million in annual revenues, servicing eight counties: Oklahoma, Canadian, Logan, Lincoln, Grady, Cleveland, McClain, and Pottawatomie.
Capital and its affiliates move to a 156,000-square-foot facility at 421 N Portland, near I-40 and I-44 merger. The new facility prefaces Capital’s massive expansion in the coming years.
Between 2005 and 2015, Capital doubles its volume and revenue and increased its market share to 46%. The company responds to this growth by investing in its people, technology, and infrastructure.
Oklahoma citizens vote to pass State Question 792 eliminating the state’s 3.2% beer laws and opening the door to grocery and convenience stores selling full strength beer and wine in their establishments. The modernization of the law prompts the entry into Oklahoma of Jaugernaut craft breweries such as New Belgium, Stone Brewing, Oscar Blues, Dogfish Head Brewing and many more.
On October 1, 2018, Capital begins distributing full-strength beer to grocery & convenience stores. While Liquor stores for the first time ever, are able to sell their craft and import brands cold from the cooler.
Capital expands its presence in full-strength beer offerings to become a better partner with its retailer partners.
Today, Capital has 285 employees and a fleet of more than 40 trucks that service 27 counties across the state of Oklahoma.
The distributor represents more than 2,000 SKUs from 200+ brand partners.
The National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA) names Capital Distributing’s President and Equity Manager Gordon Green, Chairman of the Board. Green previously served as Vice Chairman of NBWA and has been an active board member since 2012.
